Tech's Notes: "These have a much more rigid rotational feel. The dust seal is easily removable with a pair of pliers. Same with the extra little tab on the side that sticks up. Some people like to remove the tab and place it in the center of the 'split'. That way the pot can be used with knobs built for solid shafts, and the tab prevents the split shaft from collapsing due to over-tightening."

Mini Pots

Very Good pots (when you remove the dust seal)
These pots work perfectly for my application (Les Paul restoration). Some other reviews express difficulty soldering to the back. The pots come with a rubber-like plastic shell over the housing, and can be removed with a small flathead to pry it off. After that, I had no issues with soldering a star-ground to the housing (when using a 40W iron and flux paste).

Alpha Mini-Pot
It works smoothly and seems okay but is very difficult to solder ground to the back because of the finish plating on the housing. NG Response: "As with any pots, the backs should be cleaned prior to soldering to remove the protective oils left over from the manufacturing process, as they can make it difficult for the solder to bond."
