PLEASE NOTE: While we inspect and test every truss rod before shipping out. We urge you to carefully inspect each rod you receive to make sure it is functioning appropriately. Once installed, a truss rod can be extremely difficult to replace or repair, and no one wants that. To test, put the end of the rod in a vise and carefully turn the nut beyond its normal range of adjustment in both directions. If it is extremely difficult to turn, locks up while turning, or if a weld cracks or breaks, you've received a defective truss rod. Contact us for a free replacement.
Any modification to the truss rods will immediately void the warranty. As with all of our products, Next Gen Musical Ltd. is not responsible for any effect of a defective truss rod, or any related costs beyond the price of the truss rod itself.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Note: These instructions are for flush heel-based truss rod adjustment. You must modify as needed if doing headstock-based adjustment. IMPORTANT: This is how most luthiers install and use these truss rods with great success. If absolutely perfect tightness is your goal, you will need to measure the truss you receive with calipers and adjust all measurements as necessary, each time you do an install.
- Rout a channel from one end that is 360mm long measuring 6.35mm wide x 9.5mm deep (1/4" wide x 3/8" deep).
- From the adjustment end, deepen the first 57.15mm (2 1/4") of the channel to 11.15mm (7/16") deep.
- For a square/open adjustment end, also widen the first 57.15mm (2 1/4") of the channel to 9.5mm (3/8"). If going for a clean/round/tight install around the adjustment nut, skip to the next step.
- For a clean/round/tight install around the adjustment nut:
- Ream out the first 50mm (2") length with a 9.5mm (3/8") reamer, at a depth of 6.35mm (1/4"). The result will be wood all around the adjustment nut for a nicely finished look.
