Ever notice your tone gets darker as you turn your volume controls down on your guitar? That's because when you reduce volume, you lose higher frequencies first. A treble bleed circuit is one of the easier and more useful mods for any guitarist who uses their volume knob regularly. It keeps your tone more uniform across the entire sweep of the pot from 1 to 10.
It is simply a cap (820pF) and resistor (220K) paired together in parallel. Ours uses a 1/4W metal film resistor and a ceramic disc capacitor, but you can use whatever you have on hand if you're making one for yourself.
Be careful not to overheat the components during installation. Use of a heat sink may be preferable.

Tech's notes: "This 820pF+220K combo is one of the best options for single coil equipped guitars with 250K pots. It will work with humbuckers and 500K pots as well, but may still thin out a bit as you get below 5 on the volume control. It's also important to note that ALL treble bleed circuits will change your pot taper slightly, making it sound a little more linear. So, choosing a volume pot with a strong logarithmic taper (5%-10% @ half turn) would be ideal for use with a treble bleed."
