Tech's notes: "J is just CTS's code for a 30% audio taper. That's what most modern marketing refers to as a 'vintage' or 'vintage accurate' audio taper. It's really just an audio taper with a 30% value at half a turn, rather than 10% (which became the standard several decades ago). If you're worried J-taper means something strange/weird, it doesn't. These have a smooth/solid rotational feel to them."

vintage taper pot
I didn't think that these pots were zero stop pots. If you roll off the tone or the volume they go to zero. The available sweep is about 25 % . Should have got the standard audio taper. NG Response: "These pots are a 30% audio taper, which means they'll read 30% of full resistance at a half turn, as described in the product description. If yours measures outside of that spec, you may have received a bad pot. Please contact customer service for a replacement."
