Screwing those in a solid maple top is like trying to screw cooked spaghetti. I drilled a hole the right size and used a screwdriver the right side and it barely gripped the screwdriver. Then it started bending, ending with a twist that broke the screw millimeters from the wood's surface. I had to leave it there and work around it to avoid marking the finish on my guitar. They belong in the garbage... NG Response: "If the screw broke on installation, chances are you did not drill the appropriately sized pilot hole. Harder woods need a slightly larger pilot hole."
