Great value
The Celestion V-Type sounds like a cross between a Vintage 30 and a Greenback. The V-Type also has the mid peak, found in the Vintage but it starts later, around 600 Hz, and drops off sharply after 1kHz. What you get is a significantly smoother sound than the Vintage 30 and stronger bass than a Greenback. Out of the box there's none of that harshness I've found with V30's. It has a big, smooth midrange, but the bass is much more solid than a traditional Greenback. The V-Type also weighs quite a bit less than the Vintage 30 because it uses a smaller magnet. The smaller magnet has the additional advantage that this speaker can be used in small combos such as my Vox Ac4-C1-12 in which a large magnet would come in contact with the transformers. I recommend it if your looking for something not as mid peaking as a V30 but still want similar qualities. Great value.
