Product Description
WARNING: Do NOT over-tighten the strain relief screws. It is normal for them to stick out a bit. Those screws should only be snug against the wire to assist with strain relief, not screwed in all the way. Over-tightening them may destroy your cable.
SquarePlug SPS5 is the shortest 1/4" soldered plug with strain relief on the market today. It protrudes by only 21mm when plugged in and has an outer diameter of just under 14mm. The SPS5 fits on any controller/patch bay/switching system/interface and features a unique 2-screw cable holding mechanism. The screws hold the cable in place, preventing any tension on the solder joints.
Tests have been carried out on a number of cables with soft to more harder outer jackets with excellent results. You can safely hold the cable and pull it from whatever socket it's plugged in with minimal risk of harming the cable or the solder joints.
The PERFECT plug for use in tight spaces!
Features:
- Ultra-small body
- Solder terminals for both hot and ground
- Built-in strain relief
- Main insulator is a high grade poly-carbonate (more durable and heat resistant than the plastic, nylon, or fiberglass used by other manufacturers)
- Insulation sheet provided to prevent shorts to the body
See our blog on "Pedalboards - What kind of cable should I use?" for details on cable types and considerations.
Tech's notes: "These require cable that is 4.8mm-5.8mm in diameter, like our mini cable. Most standard instrument cable is larger than that. These are designed primarily for pedalboards, where smaller cable is ideal."

Sps5 1/4 Mono Short
Building a pedal board and needed plugs that fit closely spaced Boss ES-8 jacks. These do the trick and help with space, being short. One of the 10 plugs had stripped threading though, which was a bit of a bummer. I'll still order more and hopefully see better quality control. Still happy as the product seems pretty good overall.

Great, not perfect
If you're building a pedal board these are your first choice. They are small and the quality is great inside and out. I did have a couple minor issues with mine, however. One out of 16 plugs had a poorly threaded screw. And the lug for the tip connection is pretty much useless - you actually get a stronger connection by cutting it off and soldering directly to its base. There are videos that go over this trick. All that aside, you won't find better straight plugs for a pedal board than these.

Best I've found.
Started using these for pedal board builds a short while ago and now they are my go to for straight jacks. The extremely short back end save's room on the board and the overall build quality of the jack is the best I've seen. They also make a killer pancake right angle jack if needed.

SquarePlug SPS5 - 1/4" Mono Short Plug
Used with the RapcoHorizon Mini Guitar Cable. This plug is really easy to solder, and assemble. The screws on the side really help stabilize the cable. They're great for closely placed top mounted jacks on pedals where right angle cables won't fit. I will definitely be using these more.
